Dr. Mary Strickland honored as NCHA Healthcare Hero
Dr. Mary Strickland, Nash UNC’s Vice President of Nursing, has been honored as a Healthcare Hero by the North Carolina Healthcare Association, as gratitude for going above and beyond the call of duty. Mary was awarded based on her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, with specific reference to her work on developing COVID surge plans and staffing models, and implementing best practices throughout the organization. Simultaneously, she led the organization’s nursing staff through a successful re-designation as a Pathway to Excellence organization, engaging frontline staff and leaders in a robust shared governance model. Through all of these efforts, Mary’s leadership focus has been one of staff engagement, support, appreciation and motivation.
Mary received a surprise recognition at the April meeting of Nash UNC Health Care’s Board of Commissioners, by Dr. L. Lee Isley, President & CEO of Nash UNC Health Care. She was presented with a Healthcare Hero Medallion and a letter from NCHA President Steve Lawler by Dr. Crystal Hayden, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer for Nash UNC Health Care.
