UNC Health Nash Earns National High Performance Score

The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that collects and reports hospital performance data each year, recently released its Spring 2023 scores, and UNC Health Nash received an A.

“This A grade reflects the highest standard of care that we provide our patients, families and community,” said Dr. L. Lee Isley, president & CEO of UNC Health Nash. “I am so proud of our team for what we have accomplished together. The Leapfrog A, coupled with other recent national and state recognitions, are examples of UNC Nash’s dedication to providing exceptional patient care with every patient, every time.”

The Leapfrog A grade is the latest achievement in recent accolades related to the quality of care provided by the hospital. UNC Nash previously received a Top Hospital designation from Leapfrog in December of last year, and was named a Top 25 Best Hospital in the state last month by Business North Carolina for the second year in a row.

According to the data used for the Spring 2023 Leapfrog score, the areas in which UNC Nash excelled to receive the Leapfrog A include:  improved bar code medication administration, patient ratings of staff communication, staff explanation of medications, response to patient needs, and preparing patients for discharge.

The time period of data used for the Spring 2023 score is primarily 2019-2021, with a few measures ranging into 2022.

Survey results are used to educate consumers about the quality and safety of hospitals in their community. The Leapfrog Group states hospitals that voluntarily submit their data to the Leapfrog Hospital Survey are to be commended for their commitment to transparency and educating their patients about the quality and safety of the care they provide.

“I want to sincerely thank all of our team members who work together to continuously improve key areas to ensure we provide the best care possible. A special thank you to our Board, medical staff, nursing teams, care management, quality staff, and all support staff for their hard work and collaboration,” said Isley. “Our recent accolades, including the Leapfrog A, serve as evidence that we are living out our mission to improve the health and wellbeing of our community.”
