“The work and support of the Foundation plays an important role in our efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. We look forward to working with the Foundation, and their new board members, to continue improving the care we provide for our patients,” said Dr. L. Lee Isley, president & CEO of UNC Health Nash.
The UNC Health Nash Foundation works with community partners to help to improve the overall health outcomes in the community. Funds are used to support and expand transitional care services that extend beyond the walls of the hospital that are not covered by insurance.
Within the last year, the Foundation launched a new Peer Support Program in partnership with the Emergency Department, as part of the Foundation's focus on Recovery Support Services for Substance Use and Mental Health. Additionally, funds from generous donors helped expand the hospital’s community paramedic program and Inpatient Food Pantry, which recently distributed its 1,000th food box, with the 1,500th milestone quickly approaching.
Also of note, the Foundation’s recent Employee Giving Campaign garnered a 42 percent participation rate from UNC Nash employees, beating the national benchmark of 32 percent participation. Funds raised during the campaign benefit programs of the UNC Health Nash Foundation and the United Way Tar River Region.
