What Our Patients Are Saying

"I wanted to give another big Thank You to the great team at the Heart Center for all they did for my mom back in February. Her heart attack was on Valentine’s Day, and everything from the medics that picked her up to how fast she was admitted, and into the cath lab was incredible.  Even my “big city” Aunts that came from Texas were beyond impressed. My sister just turned 40 and we had a lunch for her at my mom’s house. We would not have been able to enjoy this day like we did if things had turned out differently back in February.

I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day. We get to have our mom for another one this year. "

- Erin G., patient family member

"With the numerous times we've been in the hospital, I want to publicly give kudos to the outstanding care my dad has received each time. Kudos to the new CEO of Nash UNC and his team. Not only have we seen the improvements at the hospital, but we can feel them."

- Pam G., patient family member

“I want to say thank you to all the staff at the Nash UNC Emergency Room and Nash UNC Heart Center for taking such phenomenal care of me while I was a patient there from January 23--25, 2019. The nursing staff, the doctors, and the radiology staff were very personable and very professional. I went to the Heart Center where I met some of the most knowledgeable and kind people I have ever seen. I want to especially thank Dr. Prasada and his team in the cath lab for their medical care. You all "rock"!”

- Betty Jones, patient

“On Monday April 1, 2019 my wife Barbara had a right knee replacement performed by Dr. McAvoy. Post surgery, she was transferred to 4-East. Her care on that unit was superb. The nurses, Anne Judd and Crystal Macklin were very supportive and compassionate to my wife's needs. Each visit to her room focused on both health care and a chance to provide much needed education about her situation. Barbara was made to feel as if she was an active participant in her recovery. The discharge instructions provided by Anne were very through and realistic. My wife and I were provided with an honest review of the positives and negatives involved with the recovery process related to a total knee replacement. We both left the hospital with a knowing what to expect during the weeks of healing that awaited us. I also want to also mention the 2 NA's involved with Barbara's care, Mildred and Kanvis were excellent. Their assistance in providing comfort were greatly appreciated. Overall our experience was very commendable from all of the involved departments: Preoperative Teaching, Nursing, Physical Therapy and Dietary. My wife and I are retired nurses from UNC/Nash Healthcare and this recent visit has made us proud to be associated with such an institution.”

“I just had my first baby and was a patient at Nash Women’s Center. I went in Saturday evening scared to death having never experience labor and delivery before . I’m sitting at home safely with my sweet girl and reflecting on my experience as a patient. There is no other place I would want to have a baby. My experience was beyond any expectations I ever had. I had to have an emergency c-section because of unforeseen complications but Dr Collins was amazing !!!! Everyone was amazing . Not one employee did I have any issues with. Thank you Nash for making that experience for me memorable in a positive way.”

- Mary Warwick Thompson, patient of the Nash UNC Women’s Center

“All of the nurses and assistants were caring and great. They were the best I’ve ever had in my entire life.”

- Katie Bunn, patient

"I began experiencing shortness of breath when climbing stairs. It did not improve over a period of 6 months. In fact it seemed to become more frequent. I feared I had blockage in one or more arteries. So I went to see Dr. Stephanie Martin and after the examination it was decided to skip the stress test and do a catherization. She discussed the procedure and how it would go. Their professionalism and bedside manor should be taught in med school. I would willingly & strongly recommend the Nash-UNC Heart Center to anyone. I felt confidence in the staff from the moment I entered and encountered the first person thoughout the entire process and including being discharged. I don't see why our Heart Center is not everyone's first choice. I am both proud and grateful for the outstanding medical faculty we have right here in Rocky Mount!"

- David F., patient at Nash UNC Heart Center

“The registration and front lobby staff in the Emergency Department were so helpful and kind. They kept me informed and were quick to answer any questions I had. Their kindness and helpfulness put me at ease during an otherwise scary situation.”

- Laura Denton, patient family member

“…I wanted to extend my sincere appreciation for the professionalism, proficiency and excellent teamwork demonstrated by Dr. Prasada and the Nash Heart Center Cath Lab Team during my recent heart catheterization… Over the past 40 years, I have been treated in a variety of military and civilian hospitals.  Comparing the past with the present, I was impressed with well-orchestrated catheterization process.  Professionalism and proficiency are always patient expectations, but cheerful attitudes and a sense of humor also help to put the patient at ease… I sincerely appreciate the wonderful care that provided by all concerned and just wanted to say ‘thank you’ for a job well done.  Keep up the great work…”

- Donald R. “Mac” McKenzie, Jr., Captain, USN (RET), patient

"I could go anywhere for this treatment, but I’ve chosen Nash. The people are always friendly and nice to me, and they take care of me. It’s easy to see that Dr. Manikkam cares about people and that his heart is in his work.”

- S. T. Wooten, patient of the Danny Talbott Cancer Center

“I cannot thank the staff at the women’s center enough! Me and my wife had a fantastic experience with the birth of our daughter! Everyone from the doctors to the nursing staff went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful!”

- Greg Thompson, patient family member

“From our pre-op to the surgery to the CVICU, we have had the MOST POSITIVE experience.  Employees from pre-op, OR, anesthesiologists, Day Hospital and especially CVICU nurses are THE BEST! Everyone is professional and so encouraging and helpful.  Thank you for your leadership in this hospital. We are blessed to have a facility here in Rocky Mount!  Ryan Griffin, Joel Hedgepeth, Beth Carrico and Dr Lindsey Tyler, just to name a few, (along with her other nurses from CVICU)have gone over and beyond the call of duty to provide personal care to my mom.  Their compassion and professionalism is so appreciated!”

- Susan Frazier, patient family member
